The Hermitage offers a variety of accommodations throughout our monastery grounds.  The attached map indicates the locations of each, for your general reference. You will note that each of the private rooms in the retreat house are named and attached you can find a short biography/reference behind each which we hope will be of interest to you.

For guests requiring wheelchair accessibility, please note that GuestHouse A is the most appropriate accommodation with ramps and ease of access to our Chapel.

The retreat house, which features nine private rooms, each with a half-bath and personal garden overlooking the ocean. In the retreat house, there is also a room with two private showers and a common kitchen where meals are picked up.

In addition to the retreat house, there are five private hermitages located along the hillside below the retreat house. These spaces offer greater solitude and privacy. They include a full bath, small refrigerator, small counter-top gas burner for cooking, various food items for light meals and a sun deck. The main meal is picked up at the retreat house kitchen.

Just added in 2011 are private retreat accommodations within the monastic enclosure. This completely private cell includes bath, prayer room, and sleeping area. These accommodations are only available to male retreatants since they are located within the monastic cloister.

We are pleased to now offer two choices in accommodations that will house more than one person:

• GuestHouse A, located adjacent to the bookstore, has two beds and a full bath.

• Scholastica is a spacious, free-standing open concept hermitage. The one large room includes two beds, a futon, a full kitchen/living dining. A full bath is just off the large central living area.

Rates for accommodations, cancellation policy and check-in

Room rates:
Suggested donation for the retreat rooms is $110 per night.
GuestHouse A is $110 for single occupancy and $200 for double occupancy.
Private Hermitages are $120 per night.
Monastic cottages are $130 per night.
Rates for Scholastica are $150 for single occupancy and $240 for double occupancy.

All rates for accommodations include meals, which are mostly vegetarian.

A first night deposit is requested at the time the reservation is made. A refund may be requested if cancellation occurs no later than two weeks prior to the date of arrival.

Check-in time is 4:00 pm, check-out from the room and private hermitage is 1:15 pm.

When arriving, please proceed to the Book and Gift Shop to check in. If you are arriving after hours (the store closes at 5:00pm), there will be a map on the door directing you to your room or private hermitage. Please register the following morning.
